To everyone interested in The Working of the Spirit project:
There is a new feeling after the meetings in Spring Valley and in London such that I think we have entered the next phase of the project. Much is still centered on the performances of all 4 Mystery Dramas in Spring Valley this summer. If you are thinking that you may be planning to attend in August it might be wise to act on that immediately. As of yesterday over 1/2 of all the seats have been sold.
The first of a series of Webinars was held week before last on the characters in the Dramas and that will continue on Tuesday evenings. For those who might be interested, especially those in other countries, we are recording the sessions and if you join the series you will be able to access them at your own schedule through the Anthroposophy.org web site. All of the proceeds from this Webinar series go to support the Threefold Mystery Drama groups efforts this summer.
The meetings in London were very positive in expanding the warmth body around the project. The picture at the moment is now to consolidate those who are interested into 2 circles as colleagues for further development. One is more on the artistic side, the other more on the financial side. We are trying now to find a time and place where a meeting can take place with members of both groups.
Michael Burton is now working on the 3rd draft of the play. We are scheduling meetings in Australia for Michael and Adrian Locher to work on refinement of the texts. I am also planning to spend time with Michael in Australia to work on some of the developmental ideas that have arisen on the story line of the play itself. As I am sure you can imagine ideas have surfaced from many directions about not only what should be in the new Drama, but ideas about when it takes place. We are taking these questions very seriously and will continue to work our way through them. While in the Southern Hemisphere I will plan to search for possible venues and include a visit to New Zealand while I am there. For those who are in Australia or New Zealand. Please let me know what your schedules are like as I would welcome the opportunity to meet you and if possible to talk with others in your area about the project.
The questions about artistic direction in the company have become very much more at the forefront of the developmental process. Serious conversations have started on the drama side. I am hopeful that we will relatively soon be able to move past the early discussions about artistic direction of the Eurythmy into concrete questions with those individuals who could direct our Eurythmy work both in the plays and in the Eurythmy performance. This also includes the questions around the content of the program in the Eurythmy performance.
The next step in those conversations can only truly happen when we have a firmer picture of the financial support necessary to bring this all about. The project is large but already new support has begun to flow and new individuals have begun to work on how to meet the requirements. I am very grateful that others besides myself are working to develop the financial structure on behalf of the project.
The expansions of the membership of the web site is potentially an important part of the communication process, especially in the early days before we have an administrative structure to coordinate a publicity and news releasing campaign. If you have friends and colleagues that might be interested, we would be grateful for you to tell them about the project and the site to see if we can begin a widening of the communication circle still in these early days by asking them to join the site membership.
I do try and respond to all communications that arise about the project and my normal pattern is a prompt response. If you have sent a message and not heard a response please send it again. My assumption being that it may have been lost or possibly I lost track of something I should have replied to. In todays world I take very seriously the importance of every thought and communication, at the least to acknowledge its receipt even if it does not lead to a longer detailed response. I work from the stand point that everyone matters at all times, even when it may be difficult. The lessons of the dramas are for me to understand how to work with the reality that only what we bring with us from our work with others will truly carry the formative forces of the future both individually and for the collective cultural possibilities. With that in mind I want always to respond.
All the best in your work,
